FIELD TRIPS

For our May Field Trip,
PGMC planned to join the Tri Club group to collect marine fossils in Somis on
the 8th, but only one member ended up making the trip. Thanks to Kevin Smith for displaying examples of
the fossils you collected at our monthly meeting.
On the horizon is a FT to the Montezuma Gold Mining District near Ranchita. A small group of members, including myself, recently accessed the road & mine conditions and have deemed it a ‘club-worthy’ trip. Dusty Rhodes has offered to talk about the geological features of the area & the mining activity which took place there in the 1920s. I am working to get a date scheduled for this day trip.
But just around the corner, from May 29 -June 5, our President Randy Beach will be in the Ludlow area to collect Thulite from Black Ridge and search for the local chalcedony source. Club members are welcome to join him for a day or two of digging/collecting. If you are interested, you can visit our Yahoo Group for more info (messages 2106 & 2113) or you can call Randy for the details.
Later on in the month, June 26 & 27, CFMS is offering a Double Tourmaline Field Trip to the Oceanview Mine & Himalaya Mine. See details below.
